Illuminate the Path of Your Intentions A Guide to Activating the Knowledge, Wisdom and Spirituality Within You
No matter what your new year's resolutions may be, it's essential to begin by focusing on the knowledge, wisdom, and spirituality area of your home. This area is located in the front left corner of your home and represents your inner strength, personal growth, and the integration of knowledge you have acquired. Once you have reflected on your goals for the year, start by enhancing the energy in this area to provide support to you throughout the year.
Intentions are set in order to improve a situation. We are either not happy with a situation or we see an opportunity to make a good situation even better. In order to carry our intentions to fruition, we most likely need to take a step back and consider what brought us to this point. Why do we see a need for improvement and how will attaining our desired goal affect our lives, both externally and internally. Below are a few sample questions:
Why do I want a career change? More money, more free time, more growth?
Why do want a partner? More companionship, more physical contact, more stability?
Why do I want to have more fun? Do you work too many hours, have you lost the connection with your inner child? Are you coming out of an unpleasant situation?
Now that you've figured out what your intention is, we can start creating functional cures in the Knowledge area. But first, al little info about this important area of our lives and homes.
The knowledge area of your home is represented by the MOUNTAIN. Mountains are symbols of stability, stillness, beauty and grounding. These are all good things to contemplate while instituting a new behavior/mind set in order to fulfill your intention. By boosting this area, we are creating the energy of learning, inner-guidance, and self-realization.
This area encourages us to take the time to learn and grow from both an intellectual as well as a spiritual perspective. We've lost the connection to our spiritual side in this modern world in which we live.
Reconnection to the inner-self is of utmost importance if you want to make real changes in your life. Many spiritual masters have reflected on the very subject.
Rumi, a 13th century poet and spiritual leader and Jesus Christ had similar views on this:
Interestingly, the season that influences this area is late-winter. Perfect timing for New Year intention setting!
The element is Earth. Supporting element is Fire. Destructive element is Wood.
Boost the energy in this area when you:
or someone else in the home is a student
are starting a new position at work that requires training
or someone in your home is in therapy
have an unresolved issue you would like to solve
want to begin or fortify your prayer/meditation practice
are pursuing personal empowerment/development
want to quit a bad habit, i.e. smoking, negative self-talk, gossiping
need increased motivation
are looking for clarity in a certain situation
Support the area with these cures by adding:
Books of any type - including Feng Shui books!
School supplies, backpack or other school-related gear-laptop, books, desk, symbols of your area of study
Art or photos with special teachers, schools or other symbols of personal or academic accomplishments
Motivational quotes or mottos from wise people you trust and admire
Meditation cushion, chair or other contemplation supplies
Yoga mat or yoga practice area
Any type of religious study texts that resonate with you
Photos or art of wise people, personal mentors, knowledge-seekers
Art or photos of a single mountain or mountain range
Anything in the colors black, blue or green
An electric light left illuminated in this area will "fire up" your intelligence or insights
Personal affirmations about your success in gaining knowledge or self-improvement
The scent of rosemary enhances memory and perception and helps balance the body and mind
These are all just suggestions for you to contemplate. If some of them work for you, great! But my hope is that you'll be inspired to envision what is right for your specific intentions, motivations and space. Get creative with what speaks to YOUR heart and your knowledge area will fiercely support your intentions.
Then you are unstoppable!
Next week, we will be discussing why boosting the Relationship area will help fortify the energy of your intention as well as ways to powerfully connect the two areas using feng shui cures. See you then!
